Styx is the first musical act to ever have four consecutive triple platinum albums, and remain one of the most popular musical acts in history. The group originally formed in the Chicago, Illinois, area in 1961 as "The Tradewinds". This earliest line-up of the group included vocalist, pianist, keyboardist, and accordion player Dennis DeYoung, and a rhythm section comprising brothers Chuck and John Panozzo on bass and drums, respectively. Changing their name briefly to "TW4", the band added guitarists/vocalists James "J.Y." Young and John Curulewski. The band members decided to choose a new name when they signed to Wooden Nickel Records; several suggestions were made and, says DeYoung, Styx was chosen because it was "the only one that none of us hated." Guitarist Tommy Shaw joined the group in 1975 following the departure of Curelewski.

A Man Like Me Lyrics

Styx

Written by james young
Lead vocals by james young
Yeah
Eight days a week with my baby at home
And you know that shes my tender honey
Baby Ive been good
But you know its rough
When youre spending all of my money
Aint no disputin Im your man
You know I want to tell the world
Youre the only woman
Show me what love can be
Youre the only woman
That understands a man like me
Rock and roll is a way of life
But dont you know it brings me down
Music is my game but when Im home
I treat a lady like shes wearing a crown
Stranded in the storm round lakewood way
You know who comes to mind
Shes the only woman
Show me what love can be
Shes the only woman
That understands a man like me
[guitar solo]
When Im away with time to kill
Just sittin around gettin high
Thinking about your sweet sweet love
I wanna jump on a plane and fly
Sweet little susie
Show me what love can be
Shes the only woman
That understands a man
She understands a man
(like me)
Shes the only woman
Shes the only woman
Shes the only woman
